About the conference

Following the success of the 2024 and 2025 editions, the third ESG Qatar Conference returns with QNB as strategic partner to facilitate dialogue on regulation, reporting, financial integration, and innovative sustainability practice - with a special focus on academic and policy depth.

The third edition convenes as QFMA disclosure requirements take effect for all listed companies - in strategic partnership with QNB and in cooperation with ISEP (UK).

Dr. Buthaina Hassan Al-Ansari

A message from the Chair

In light of the mandatory directives issued by the Qatar Financial Markets Authority regarding the preparation of disclosure reports on ESG practices and standards, our annual conference serves as a strategic platform for Qatari companies to advance transparency, governance and sustainability. Adherence to Environmental, Social and Governance standards is not merely a regulatory requirement, but rather a long-term investment in investor confidence and sustainable economic growth, while also supporting Qatar National Vision 2030. I invite you all to actively participate in this conference, exchange expertise, and adopt best global practices that will contribute to strengthening the position of our companies in regional and international markets.

Dr. Buthaina Hassan Al-AnsariConference Chair - Chairman of the Board, Hawkama International

Expected outcomes 2026

  • Deeper understanding and practical application of ESG standards across sectors in Qatar and the region.
  • Stronger networks among international and local sustainability stakeholders.
  • Concrete action plans to embed ESG more deeply in business practice.
  • Advanced capacity in environmental, social and governance reporting standards.
  • Publication of the Doha Recommendations 2026 to accelerate the transition to a sustainable green economy.

The first edition was chaired by Sheikha Amal bint Thamer Al Thani, and was opened by H.E. Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani, former Minister of Environment. It was held in cooperation with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) of the United Kingdom. The sponsors were Qatar Free Zones Authority (strategic), Aamal (platinum), University of Doha for Science and Technology, UDST (gold), and Ashghal and TechnoQ (silver). Alwadi Hotel in Msheireb hosted the first day and UDST hosted the second, and across both days the conference brought together more than 250 experts and decision-makers from the State of Qatar and the United Kingdom. The first edition closed by launching the "Doha Recommendations for beginning ESG implementation", which became a roadmap for a number of institutions in the region. It was a strong start for spreading ESG concepts across Qatar and among Qatari companies, which have since moved much closer to preparing annual reports on their environmental, social and governance performance under government laws and regulations.
